DEAR SANTY: A HOARDSMAS WISHLIST.

I was already planning a Christmas Wishlist episode here on Hoard World but upon recently discovering the existence of The League Of Extraordinary Bloggers, it seemed even more worthwhile!

The League was created and spearheaded earlier this year by Brian over at the website Cool And Collected to basically spread the blogging love by sharing a topic across as many participating websites as possible each week. Imagine that! A whole host of independent blogs coming together and uniting with different takes on the one topic! Then, they all link to each other's entries - increasing traffic, exposing new readers and growing the community!

Giving and sharing is supposed to be what Christmas is all about so I can think of no better time than now to join The League Of Extraordinary Bloggers with my own take on this week's assignment: Wishlists.

IT'S A VERY HOARD WORLD HALLOWEEN!

There are plenty of events all year round that hold a special place in Hoardax's plastic, slime-filled heart. You know, like He-man's Birthday, whenever there's a Friday The 13th and of course - HALLOWEEN.

And what better way to celebrate it than with a Halloween Party on Hoard World?

Fortunately for our Hoard Worlders at home who couldn't make it, an official photographer was there to capture some of the action.

I can still remember the impact that Masters Of The Universe had upon me as a child. Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to articulate because I was so young when it struck me that it feels just like a series of stream-of-consciousness flashbacks. I can remember Alfredo Alcala's amazing art from the minicomics. I can remember how cool it was that Skeletor came from another dimension of people just like him. I remember how mysterious the swords and sorcery mixed with science fiction theme was.

Obviously talented yet incredibly, stomach-churningly bigoted creator Doug TenNapel's iconic 90s video game creation has certainly lasted longer than probably anybody anticipated back in the day. Thanks Nostalgia!

Johnny Lightning were kinda like Mattel's Hot Wheels except not as popular. They were out of business by 1971 while Hot Wheels continued to thrive. One thing they did have over Hot Wheels however was that they were FAST. 

I'm talking fast. 

To paraphrase one of the catchphrases of the major motion picture Action Jackson, if I may - Johnny Lightning cars were, "Fast. Faster. Fastest."

Or at least that was their claim to fame.

Kobra Kahn Celebrates 50 Facebook Likes!

Now that Hoardax and Hoard World have been officially launched out into the stratosphere and the welcoming arms of The Internets Public, it's time to say a quick thank you to everybody that has accepted us  with open tentacles and already shown their support so very early in the piece.

THANKS EVERYBODY!

It's all been very exciting so far. Last night watching the likes increase exponentially on the facebook page so rapidly after being announced was a real thrill. Special thanks should go in particular to the guys at Melbourne's own All Star Comics for recommending us on their page and liking us themselves - they played a massive part in spreading the good word last night. It was so awesome to start seeing people I didn't already know starting to like us. (To the people I do already know that liked us, we love and appreciate your support too!)

It is very early days (well, it's still very early DAY) but in the upcoming week expect to see a bunch of new blog entries about things we all like to hoard, a metric hoardload of new ebay listings covering all sorts of territory, and, for you local folk, watch out for some sneaky loose action figures turning up in the vintage toy cabinet at All Star Comics Melbourne.

To celebrate our 50th Facebook Like on Hoard World we gave away a mystery vintage MOTU toy. It turned out to be Kobra Kahn (pictured).

Congratulations once again to BJ for being that special FIFTIETH Hoard Worlder.

What's in store for the next lucky person to hit a Facebook Like Milestone? 

We'll all see when we get closer to the 100 mark.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to HOARDING, the name and the act.

While hoarding cloaks itself in a plethora of disguises, its favorite mantle still remains... STUFF.

Hoarding devours all it touches, its voracious appetite rarely fulfilled. Yet hoarding doesn't only destroy, it creates and sells as well. Let's examine closely then this dangerously evil creation, this new breed encased and contained within the supple skin of my recently evacuated storage unit.

The collectables are there, the unmistakable smell of nostalgia, the surface plastic and shiny, the format DVD and VHS.

But a word of caution: handle with care and don't drop your guard. This rapacious new breed prowls both online and at swaps, being sold at any level, any time, anywhere, and to anybody.
